Our Story

Founded on Precision, Guided by Integrity

teguhad was founded in 2012 by a small group of management consultants who had worked in Malaysia's banking, manufacturing, and professional services sectors. We noticed that many mid-market businesses — the kind that drive much of the country's economic activity — had limited access to the kind of structured advisory support that larger corporations took for granted.

Our name reflects our values. Teguh, meaning steadfast or firm in Malay, speaks to the kind of advisory relationship we believe in — one where we stand by our analysis, communicate clearly even when the findings are uncomfortable, and remain present throughout the engagement rather than handing over a report and stepping away.

Over twelve years, we have worked with businesses across retail, manufacturing, financial services, education, and technology. Our work takes us across Peninsular Malaysia and East Malaysia, and our client relationships frequently span multiple engagements as businesses grow and their challenges evolve.

We are not a large firm and we do not aspire to be one. Keeping our practice focused means we can offer the kind of senior-level attention that genuinely changes how a business understands itself.

Every engagement begins with a mutual NDA. Client data is handled in full compliance with Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010 and is never retained beyond the engagement period.

We do not accept referral fees or vendor arrangements that could compromise our objectivity. Our recommendations are based solely on your business interests.

teguhad focuses on three dimensions that tend to determine how well a Malaysian business performs over time: how it manages its cost base, how it builds and maintains client relationships, and how it approaches significant corporate transactions. These are not abstract consulting categories — they are the specific areas where we have developed deep, practical knowledge through years of engagement work in this market.

Our cost structure analysis practice grew from working with manufacturing and retail businesses in Klang Valley and Johor Bahru who needed an external perspective on why their margins were tighter than their sector peers. Our customer experience work developed alongside Malaysia's growing service sector. And our M&A advisory work reflects the reality that more Malaysian mid-market companies are now considering acquisitions, management buyouts, and strategic partnerships as part of their long-term planning.

We hold memberships with the Malaysian Institute of Accountants and the Malaysian Bar's Business Law Section, and our M&A work follows frameworks aligned with Securities Commission Malaysia guidelines and Bursa Malaysia listing requirements where applicable. Our team participates in continuing professional development through the Institute of Management Consultants Malaysia to ensure our methodologies remain current.
